Q What is a Universal Hinge Prep?top
A The UHP is designed to accommodate multiple hinge patterns that occur on insulated steel entry doors. The hinge emboss is fixed but different hinge gussets are supplied for the various manufacturers. Each hinge gusset is numbered thus: #1 = Template hole pattern #2 = Acore Door #3 = Pease Door #5 = Therma Tru, Taylor / Perma Door, Johnson (non-template), Prem Dor (Ceco) #6 = Challenge, Prem Dor (Castlegate) #7 = Stanley Door Systems.

A The strength of the frame lies in the installation method. Rediframes sleeve the wall itself. The fasteners go through the face of the frame, through the gypsum board and into the stud. A The set number identifies the door thickness, number and size of hinges and strike prep if applicable. Example: RFS 31 = 1-3/4" door with 1-1/2 pair of 4-1/2" square template hinges with either an adjustable 2-3/4" T-strike prep or 4-7/8" ASA strike prep.
